Many Massachusetts residents would like to reduce their household’s carbon footprint but aren’t sure how to do it. Some of the most effective actions they can take–like home weatherization, converting to heat pumps, installing rooftop solar, and switching to electric vehicles – can be complex and intimidating. So despite their best intentions, they might not end up following through.
But there is a proven, effective way to help residents make these important decisions and take these crucial steps: one-on-one assistance, also known as energy coaching.
The HeatSmart Alliance is a pioneer in providing one-on-one assistance to homeowners who want to install heat pumps, training and mentoring heat pump coaches, and developing resources for volunteers.
In addition, we help communities start energy-coaching programs of their own: If you are interested in what we are doing, or need help with an energy program near you, we’d be happy to share our experience and advice. Our heat pump coaching resources are available to anyone who wishes to access them, and we offer a no-cost Heat Pump Coaching Basics training course for volunteer heat pump coaches approximately twice a year. The online training materials are available for self study to anyone who registers.
