Many Massachusetts communities have sustainability or energy committees and a sustainability manager. Some communities have volunteer-led groups that teach their neighbors about actions they can take to reduce their household carbon footprint. The HeatSmart Alliance supports these climate leaders and activists by providing knowledgeable speakers for locally organized events.
In 2023, HeatSmart Alliance volunteers presented at more than 30 conferences, talks and Q & A sessions across the Commonwealth. They explained to local residents the benefits of switching to heat pumps, which types of heat pumps might be right for their home, heat pump costs and incentives and how to get started. A typical event includes a presentation on heating and cooling with heat pumps, testimonials by neighbors, and a Q&A session.
