Good news! The HeatSmart Alliance’s January/February Heat Pumps Coaching Basics course has begun.
The no-cost course will train a cohort of 30 volunteers who want to spread the word about heat pumps, and give a helping hand to friends and neighbors who are considering these energy-efficient heating and cooling systems for their homes.
It will be a great way for our trainees to get to know people in the community, while helping them understand how they can reduce carbon pollution locally, and help accelerate the transition to a cleaner tomorrow!
The program teaches trainees about the different kinds of heat pumps that are available, what steps a homeowner needs to take before installing them, the incentives and tax credits that apply, and much more.
It also shows trainees where to find more advanced resources should a coaching client ask questions that are beyond their level of expertise.
Most coaching trainees aren’t heating and cooling experts when they begin the coaching course, but they often have experience with heat pumps as users.
The course is taught in six 1½-hour Zoom virtual meetings, which occur weekly. Trainees spend 1.5 – 2 hours learning from pre-prepared course materials, then apply what they’ve studied in online lessons.
We are pleased that our January-February course is fully subscribed, and excited about introducing a new group of heat pump coaches to our neighboring cities and towns! The trainees will be equipped to work with homeowners one-on-one, and help them make their homes more pleasant, safe, and carbon-neutral!
